Hydroforming Machine for Stainless Steel Insulated Cups

The Hydroforming Machine shapes stainless steel tube blanks into insulated cup bodies using high-pressure water as the forming medium. Instead of pressing metal from the outside, water pressure pushes the sealed tube outward from within, expanding it evenly against the inner wall of the forming mold.

The process starts with the tube blank locked into the mold and sealed at both ends. Water floods in, and pressure builds against the tube's internal surface. As that pressure climbs, the tube expands outward, gradually taking on the exact shape of the mold cavity around it. That's the basic mechanism behind forming a cup body through hydroforming — pressure from inside, shape defined from outside.

This approach works well for both inner and outer cup body blanks, and it tends to produce a more consistent shape heading into later production stages. Because the material is expanding outward into the mold rather than getting pressed against it from a single direction, contact between metal and mold surface comes out notably even across the whole piece.

A PLC pressure control system runs the actual forming cycle. Operators dial in water pressure and holding time to match whatever the current production run calls for, giving them real control over how each cycle plays out rather than running on fixed settings.

Wall thickness tends to stay fairly even across the formed piece too, which is a direct byproduct of how evenly the pressure distributes during expansion. That consistency pays off later — less material needs trimming or correcting once the piece moves into machining and finishing.

Built for continuous production runs, the Hydroforming Machine slots into stainless steel insulated cup manufacturing lines without much friction. Pairing water-pressure forming with automated pressure control gives manufacturers a genuinely practical way to turn out consistent cup body blanks, batch after batch, ready for whatever processing comes next.
